How to Knit the Taylor Swift All Too Well Scarf | Free Knitting Pattern

It’s almost Sad Girl Autumn season and if you’ve left your Red scarf at his sister’s house, it’s the perfect time to knit up a new one!

Inspired by the scarf that Sadie Sink wears in the All Too Well music video by Taylor Swift (and previously sold on Swift’s merch site), the All Too Well scarf is knitted flat with a unique stitch pattern. It’s an easy project for knitters of all levels and will definitely keep you warm when the air is cold and the wind is in your hair.

All Too Well Scarf

Cast on 44 stitches. To modify the width of the scarf, cast on more stitches for a wider scarf or fewer stitches for a narrower scarf. Ensure that the total number of stitches you choose is an even number.

Row 1 (WS): *k1tbl, p1tbl, rep from * to end.

Row 2 (RS): *k1tbl, p1tbl, rep from * to end.

Row 3 (WS): *k1tbl, p1tbl, rep from * to end.

Row 4 (RS): *p1tbl, k1tbl, rep from * to end.

Row 5 (WS): *p1tbl, k1tbl, rep from * to end.

Row 6 (RS): *p1tbl, k1tbl, rep from * to end.

Rep Rows 1 to 6 until you’ve reached the desired length for your scarf. End on the WS.

To cast off, work the first two stitches in the pattern established. Pass the first stitch over the second stitch. One stitch casted off.

*Work the next stitch in the pattern established, then pass the first stitch over the second stitch. Rep from * until you have one stitch left.

Wrap the yarn around your needle and bring the last stitch over the wrapped yarn. Pull the wrapped yarn through the loop and cut yarn. Pull on the loop to tighten.

Tassels

Measure out 20cm/ 8” of yarn, then fold that another two more times to make three loops. Cut the yarn. This will be 60cm/ 24” if laid flat.

Holding the three strands of yarn together, fold the yarn in half. From the WS of your scarf, insert your needle into where you want to place a tassel. If you have a crochet hook, use the crochet hook instead. Loop the yarn onto your needle or hook and pull it through. Now you should have a little loop on the opposite side of your scarf. Insert the yarn on the opposite side into the loop and pull on the yarn to tighten. Tighten it evenly along all the strands.

You’ll repeat that for as many tassels as you’d like along the edge of your scarf.

Evenly cut the bottom part of the loops to separate them. If necessary, cut the tassels to make them even.

Repeat on the other side, and make sure you place them evenly so that’s its equal on both sides.

Weave in any loose ends and block the piece to finish.

Your scarf is complete!
